Are you an academically-qualified international student seeking admission to the University of Calgary but you need to satisfy the English Language Proficiency requirement before your application will be considered?
Are you a Canadian citizen, landed immigrant or permanent resident of Canada who did not complete your high school in Canada and would like to register for a degree program at the University of Calgary but you need to satisfy the English Language Proficiency requirement before you can apply?
The length of time you spend in EAP depends upon where you place in the program following language assessment. Each level or "tier" takes one term to complete, or approximately 4 months. There are 3 tiers in the EAP program so you could be in the program for as little as one term (4 months) or as long as 3 terms (1 year). Time spent in EAP is well invested.

The EAP + Undergraduate Degree
program is designed for prospective
undergraduate students. The chart shows
you how the program works. Students
must begin the program in Tiers 1, 2 or 3 to
retain admission to a degree program.
Where students begin in the program
depends upon where they place following
language assessment. Because this
program is tied to an undergraduate
degree admission, only applications for fall
term are accepted. Deadline for application
to EAP + Undergraduate degree are in
synch with deadlines for all students
applying to the U of C for fall term.
EAP + Undergraduate Degree
students must apply for admission to a
degree program by appropriate
deadlines. Completion of the EAP program
does not guarantee degree admission.
Each student's degree admission is also
dependant upon meeting all admission
criteria required by the faculty they apply to.
Achieving English language proficiency is
only part of the admission criteria required
by faculties at the University of Calgary.
Students applying to undergraduate degree programs have to do so by the deadlines established by the Admissions office. For more information about admission to the U of C please visit the Admission's Office home page.
