Pre-Program Welcome/Orientation/Language Assessment Week: January 4 - 8, 2010

You will learn important information about the EAP Program, the University of Calgary, and about living in Canada. You will also participate in language assessment activities which will tell EAP instructors about your present level of academic English. Your results from these activities will place you into an appropriate level of the EAP Program that is best for your academic language needs. You need to be well rested when you participate in these activities because you must show your best ability in English; consequently, you are advised to arrive in Calgary a few days earlier.

Activities for Orientation Week: January 4 - 8, 2010 

  •  Check in: Location: Room EDC 170, Education Block Building
  •  Immigration Session for International Students
  •  Alberta Health Care for all EAP students
  •  Orientation to the EAP Program
  •  Information about the Centre for International Students and Study Abroad (CISSA)
  •  Student Card, Registration for the Library, Registration for a Bus Pass

Placement Test and Language Assessment Activities (These activities are held throughout Orientation week.) It is important that you attend every day.

First Day: Three Requirements for Orientation Week Activities

1.   Personal Information Form

a) Complete this form before you arrive.
b) Paste a passport size photograph to the Personal Information Form.
c) EAP Staff will collect this form during this Pre-Program week.

2.  Photo Identification

a) International Students: You are asked to bring your passport with a valid Study Permit.
b) Canadian/Landed Immigrant Students: a piece of Photo ID which contains your signature, e.g. driver's licence, passport.

You will be required to show an identity (ID) card. A student ID is required to write the placement test

3.  Notebook, pencil, pen, eraser        

IF YOU DECIDE NOT TO COME

If you decide not to come to the University of Calgary, or you were unable to obtain a study permit in time, you must contact the EAP Coordinator as soon as possible. The Coordinator will require a ‘Cancellation of Registration' form with a student signature in order to cancel any tuition that will be charged to your student account. This form is available at:
